Gripping the rod whilst turning

Do you sometimes have trouble gripping and turning the rod whilst it’s in the power wrapper, especially when you are working at the tip end. Cut a piece of large diameter EVA grip, make a slit and slide over the rod. This has a great grip and you can turn the rod a lot easier.
